Homemade Spiced Chai Mix
There’s nothing more cozy than sitting by the fire with a hot cup of chai on a cold day. Or walking though the snow with a hot mug full of the creamy, spiced drink. Mmm I can see the steam rising as I type this. YUM!
I have been making this chai mix recipe as long as I can remember. It is delicious and perfectly warming for those cold winter days. It also makes a great gift! Just put the mix in a jar and add a homemade label on a pretty ribbon.
Without further ado, here is the recipe for my favorite winter drink!
Spiced Chai Mix
Ingredients:
3 cups dry milk powder, nonfat
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup instant tea, unsweetened
3/4 cup vanilla nondairy creamer, in powder form
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp ground cloves
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a food processor (or a bowl and whisk would do) and mix until thoroughly combined. The mix should be very powdery.
Serve right away by stirring 3-4 large spoonfuls into a mug of freshly boiled water OR place into a glass jar and store in a cool place (like the garage pantry) for up to six months.
If you want to add a garnish, I suggest some whipped cream and a sprinkle of spices!
NOTE: If you like a spicier chai, increase the amounts of each spice. This is really just trial and error until you find your perfect mix.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. Cozy up with a cup and stay warm, my friends!
